With little Cora on the way, Samuel and I decided it was time to take a trip by ourselves, which always sounds wonderful until you find yourself lying next to three sleeping children and having to kiss them goodbye for 6 days...yikes! But, after much planning and preparation, we did it! And aren't we so thankful that we did. Having cruised once before for our honeymoon we were pretty sure a cruise would do the trick. Monday morning we flew to Miami and boarded the Carnival Destiny for a 5 night cruise to the Bahamas. Here is what our agenda looked like:
Day1 - At Sea
Day 2 - Nassau, Bahamas for the local market shopping
Day 3 - Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. This was a private island owned by the Carnival cruise ships and was absolutely the most beautiful place we have ever been. The sand looked and felt like powdered sugar and the water was crystal clear. There was no development whatsoever on the island, only beautiful lounge chairs laid out for us and a shaded eating area where the ship provided an afternoon BBQ picnic. It was a lovely day of relaxing, swimming, and long walks on the sand.
Day 4 - Grand Turks. Yet another small and beautiful island where we chose to spend the day at a private beach and snorkel.
Day 5 - At Sea
Day 6 - Home and very happy!
I do not think we could have taken a more perfect trip or felt more refreshed from our time together. Samuel and I relished in every moment alone including long uninterrupted talks, peaceful meals, and down-time in the room. It was a wonderful reminder of what best friends we are and how much we love this life we are creating together. I do not think we have ever been so anxious to see the children and couldn't stop loving on them the night we returned. What a blessing!
